The Montgomery House Library can now accept credit cards for donations. Please click on the DONATE button below. We also accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express to pay fines. A minimum payment of $5 is required.

Why Donate?

The Montgomery House Library must raise 80% of its operating budget each year. We received 10% from the state and 10% from our municipalities. The Library relies on the generosity of you, grants, fines, and interest earned on our reserve funds.

How much do we receive in state-aid? $7,000 for 2011 -  this was cut by 20%, plus we lost $3,500 in state Access payments. Total amount lost $12,500.

How much is 80%? $128,000

How many fundraisers does the library conduct each year? Annual Fund Drive Letter $7,000
Cowabunga Day $3,000
Toy Chinese Auction $6,000

How much is spent on operating expenses?
$115,700 covers utilities, insurance, building maintenance, personnel, office supplies, and postage.

What is the average cost for a book? $25 for a hardcover, bestseller

Why doesn't the library cut hours or services to save money? The library must be open 45 hours per week to qualify for Incentive for Excellence Aid. Also, we believe that all services and programs are necessary to serve our communities.
